12.07.91 Tinian Island. On the fiftieth anniversary of
Pearl Harbor, we made our pilgrimage to the bomb pits and runways
that launched the first atomic weapons. The site is overgrown
and barely marked along the road. Each landscaped with a lone
palm tree, the bomb pits sit like islands in a sea of concrete,
barely keeping the jungle at bay.
